Maria Artkamp successfully completed her degree in Architecture Dipl- Ing. at the Münster School of Architecture MSA in 1990.
Following on from her diploma in Architecture Maria completed a post graduate studies Master’s degree in Design at the Academy of Fine Arts Bremen with Prof. William Alsop (1992).
Maria had previously completed an apprenticeship as a gardener at the Univerity of Muenster Botanical Gardens (1983).
Architectural and Project management experience in practice comprises working internationally for the offices of Deubzer and Engel – Zillich (Berlin), Niederhauser (Buenos Aires), Mayr Fingerle (Bozen), Lippsmeier & Partner and IGP (Düsseldorf).
Working in education, Maria taught Design studies at the Münster School of Architecture MSA from 1998 to 2000.
From 2003 to 2012 Maria worked predominantly as part of a development cooperation with GIZ, Red Cross, AGEf, UNOPS, UNMIS and UNWFP with the responsibility for the design, master planning and implementation of various compound projects. She designed numerous projects like the Master Plan Kabul University, the compound for the Commissions of the Government of South Sudan, the UNWFP compound in Bor and in Juba and self-contained projects with a focus on renewable energies for UNWFP in Darfur.
As director of her own architectural practice ARTKAMP ARCHITECTURE, she designed and realised new building construction projects, undertook extensive regeneration and refurbishment work and completed heritage work and conservation projects both nationally and internationally (Afghanistan and Afrika), including the new established German Embassy in South Sudan.
